Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to what doctors ask us most. Something missing? Email hello@scribein.app.

Does patient audio ever leave my phone?

No. Dictation audio is processed in your phone's memory for live transcription only — it is never recorded, never saved, and never sent anywhere. Your notes live only on your device, in an encrypted vault behind your PIN. We could not read them even if we wanted to.

Can I legally use ScribeIn notes as medical records?

ScribeIn is a documentation aid. Every note is a draft until you review, correct and sign it — only then does it become a document, and every edit you make is logged. The signed record is your record, exactly as a typed or handwritten note would be. Clinical responsibility always remains with the treating doctor, as with any documentation method.

How are generated notes reviewed?

Every note opens as a draft. You read it, edit anything, and sign it — only then does it become a document. Each edit and signature is recorded in the app's audit log, and the exported PDF carries an integrity code so any later change can be detected.

Is ScribeIn a replacement for my clinical judgement?

No. ScribeIn is a documentation aid. It drafts what you dictated, in your format; it does not diagnose or advise. Clinical decisions and the accuracy of the final record remain yours, exactly as with any other way of writing notes.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Speech recognition and note drafting run entirely on the phone, so it works in the OPD, the ward and inside the OT complex with no signal at all. You need internet once — to download the app and its AI models (about 2.3 GB, best over Wi-Fi) and to sign in.

Will it understand my accent and my drug names?

ScribeIn is built for Indian accents and Indian medicine names. The Pro plan adds a high-accuracy engine that does best with heavy accents and long dictations. The 7-day free trial exists exactly so you can test it with your own voice, your own speciality's terms, in your own OPD — before paying a rupee.

Which phones does it work on?

Android and iOS. Because everything runs on the device itself, a reasonably recent phone works best. If ScribeIn turns out not to run well on your supported device and we can't fix it, that month is refunded — see our refund policy.

Can I get the app today?

ScribeIn is in early access while the App Store and Google Play listings are completed. Request early access and we reply within 7 working days to set the app up on your phone. Your 7-day free trial starts once you can actually dictate, not before.

How much does it cost?

ScribeIn is a paid subscription with two plans, purchased on this website: Standard at ₹499/month + GST (up to 10 notes a day, the on-device AI note writer and dictation engine, one clinic letterhead and one custom template, a small "Prepared by ScribeIn" line on each PDF, 1 device) and Pro at ₹999/month + GST (unlimited notes, letterheads and templates, clean PDFs, the high-accuracy engine, passphrase-locked backup files, up to 3 devices). Both start with a 7-day free trial and renew monthly until cancelled. There is no free version. See the full comparison.

What happens during the free trial?

Every trial runs with the full Pro feature set for 7 days — unlimited notes, letterheads and templates, backup files and the high-accuracy engine — whichever plan you chose, and you are not charged. When the trial ends, the plan you chose applies and the first charge happens; cancel before that and you pay nothing. During early access the trial starts once ScribeIn is set up on your phone and you can actually dictate, not before.

How do I cancel?

Sign in on this website with your account email and tap Cancel subscription — under a minute, no phone call, no questions required. Cancel during the trial and you pay nothing; cancel later and your plan runs until the end of the period you've paid for.

What happens to my notes if I cancel — or lose my phone?

If you cancel, every note stays on your phone and can still be exported as a PDF — nothing is lost or locked away. Because we hold no copy of your notes, we also cannot recover them if the phone itself is lost — so use the app's PDF export, or a Pro passphrase-locked backup file, for any records you must keep elsewhere. Restoring a backup works on every plan.

Is my subscription payment secure?

Payments are handled by Razorpay, an RBI-regulated Indian payment processor. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details.

Still deciding? Start the 7-day free trial — try ScribeIn in your own OPD or OT before you pay anything, and cancel in one tap if it's not for you.
